    Absolution has the Dumbest Cutscene?

    Posted: 13 Nov 2019 10:29 PM PST

I made a video where I made the case that the end of the Terminus Hotel mission in Hitman: Absolution was the dumbest cutscene I'd ever seen in my decades of gaming:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbEalsUBj8o

I'm curious what the Hitman community thinks of Absolution these days. Looking through this subreddit, I see everyone talks about the last two games and Absolution almost never comes up. I wasn't really a big fan of the series until the reboot, so I'm wondering what the attitude towards Absolution is these days. Is it the mutant offspring nobody cares about, or are there die-hard Absolution fans out there that liked the more story-heavy focus?

Hitman as the time loop trope

    Posted: 13 Nov 2019 02:18 PM PST

We call it replayability, but 47 might call it a time loop.

Take your favorite time loop movie (Groundhog Day, Edge of Tomorrow, Happy Death Day) or TV episode (Star Trek TNG's Cause and Effect, too many others to mention). There's always the first time through where you notice a bunch of seemingly unimportant things happening in what seems like an ordinary day. After repeating once or twice, the hero learns they're repeating the same day over and over again.

    Two things always follow:

    1. The hero swiftly navigates the early events of the day with the grace that comes only from repetition, often amazing the other characters.

    2. The hero, out of a need to break the tension, blows off their regular goals and abandons any normal rules of civility in favor of some selfish kicks, even if that means property damage or death to innocents. Sometimes this takes the form of setting up a complicated Rube-Goldberg sequence of events.

I, for one, experience both of those on every Hitman 1/2 level. It's basically a part of the game design. For #1, I find myself narrating events like the movie heroes do. "Spawn. Walk to the safehouse. Rocco getting yelled at by his sister. Pick up the explosive golf ball. Ring Rocco's doorbell. Count to 5, enter when his back is turned. Pick up the key card. Pick up the uniform...."

Or, #2 could be one of those go nuts moments when your SA rating is blown so you decide everyone gets a fish to the head, or maybe it's the challenge packs. ("Assassinate a target with a burning oil drum while disguised as the vampire magician. The assassination must take place while the fireworks are going off.")

What do you think - Is 47 trapped in a time loop? Was Phil Connors of Groundhog Day just a completionist having trouble with a redacted challenge? Discuss.

    Edit: fixed bad formatting

Happy One Year Anniversary Hitman 2!

    Posted: 13 Nov 2019 08:24 AM PST

What was your first kill for each of the targets in the Hitman (2016) and Hitman 2 (2018)?

    Posted: 13 Nov 2019 07:48 PM PST

I just think it would be interesting to hear how everyone did on their first run in both of the games. I'll even put my own hat in the ring:

Viktor Novikov: Killed with a chandelier in the bar area

Dalia Margolis: Poisoned while disguised as Helmut Kruger

Silvio Caruso: Pushed off a cliff after poisoning his pasta

Francesca De Santis: Electrocuted during her phone call

Claus Hugo Strandberg: Killed by dropping the moose on him during the interview

Reza Zaydan: Shot him from above while he was scolding the two soldiers (I didn't realize you could push the toilet onto him at the time)

Jordan Cross: Smothered him with his birthday cake (People were still there because I didn't know better)

Ken Morgan: Killed with an explosive phone

Sean Rose: Blew him up with explosive watch battery

Penelope Graves: Pushed her into the slurry pit

Ezra Berg: Poisoned with lethal injection in the basement

Maya Parvati: Killed her with the ramming machine

    Yuki Yamazaki: Poisoned with fugu

Erich Soders: Destroyed his replacement heart

Alma Reynard: Smothered with a pillow

Sierra Knox: Killed in an explosion on the victory stage

Robert Knox: Shot to death by his androids

Rico Delgado: Stabbed in the neck by tattoo gun

Jorge Franco: Pushed him into his cocaine machine

Andrea Martinez: Pushed her into the river while she was reading the love letter

Wazir Kale (The Maelstrom): Slit his throat as the barber

Vanya Shah: Strangled with measuring tape as the tailor

Dawood Rangan: Blew him off the roof with a giant fan

Janus: Smothered him with a pillow disguised as the nurse

Nolan Cassidy: Killed by the explosion triggered by the security system

Zoe Washington: Burned to death in the effigy

Sophia Washington: Fell to her death after meeting with the Constant

Athena Savalas: Pushed her from her clock window

Tyson Williams: Shot him after being "promoted" as his personal bodyguard

Steven Bradley: Killed in a water scooter explosion

Ljudmila Vetrova: Slit her throat with a razor after getting the USB for her

So that was how my first kills went down. If you want to, tell me how your first kills went.

    Hitman 3

    Posted: 13 Nov 2019 06:57 PM PST

With Hitman 2 content winding down even more, and PlayStation 5 coming next year, what are people's thoughts on what Hitman 3 will be?

I personally am hoping to get dart rifles and maybe a lethal dart pistol. I thought the Sieker 1 and the Emetic Gas Grenade were clever ideas.

I'd also like to see support for people who bought previous versions of Hitman 1 and 2. I came into the franchise recently, and I bought Hitman 2 on disc and I bought the legacy pack. I'd like Hitman 3 to register that I've bought the legacy pack but not the actual Hitman 2016 game.

Those are my ideas. Dart Rifles for long range poisoning and support for Legacy Pack Owners. What are yours?

Would you like a real white house level in 2029?

    Posted: 13 Nov 2019 02:12 PM PST

I mean in 2019. Imagine they completly put the real white house into the game and you have to infiltrate it as 47.
