HITMAN 3 - Everything you need to know

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 04:00 PM PDT

Hitman 3 will be released January 20th, 2021.

Can I upgrade to Deluxe Edition if I get Standard Edition?

    • Yes, because the only difference between Standard Edition and Deluxe Edition is the Deluxe Pack. The Deluxe Pack will be sold separately.

Do I get the HITMAN 1 and HITMAN 2 levels if I preorder HITMAN 3 (Deluxe)?

    • No.

Will I get the PS5 version of the game if I get the PS4 version? And vice versa?

    • Yes, for free. PSVR mode is ONLY available in the PS4 version of the game, so getting the PS4 version is essential (and that's why it's free).

    • This is for both physical and digital versions of the game.

    COLLECTOR'S EDITION or STEELBOOK?

    • No.

Why is the Deluxe Edition more expensive on Epic than other stores?

    • We don't know.

    [Question about the Steam version]?

    • We have zero information about the Steam version (except that it's coming in 2022). That is all we know, so please don't ask any questions about it.

    [PC physical edition question]?

    • If it doesn't show up on hitman.com/buy, then it doesn't exist.

How do I buy the HITMAN 2016 / HITMAN 2 levels?

    • The 2016/H2 levels will be available for purchase in HITMAN 3 as DLC. The 2016/H2 levels are NOT part of any edition of HITMAN 3. They must be either bought separately or transferred from the previous games (if you owned them).

    Future DLC or multiplayer modes?

    • There won't be any new maps; only repurposing of existing locations (interpret that how you want).

When will HITMAN 3 release and on what platforms?

    • All 6 locations will fully (NOT EPISODICALLY) release on January 20th, 2021 on PS4, PS5, PSVR, XBOX ONE, XBOX Series X, Stadia, Nintendo Switch (cloud-streaming) and PC. HITMAN 3 will be an Epic Games Store exclusive for one year before becoming available on Steam.

    • The PS5 version and PS4 version are separate versions; however, owners of the PS4 version can upgrade to the PS5 version for free, and vice versa (this means you are allowed PSVR Mode no matter which PS version of the game you buy). The different XBOX versions leverage Smart Delivery.

    • Locations in order: Dubai, Dartmoor, Berlin, Chongqing.

Will I be able to carry over my progression and locations from HITMAN 2 or 2016?

    • Progress carryover works for both physical and digital versions of the game, as long as you own the game and have played it.

    • You will be able to carry over progression only from HITMAN 2 (base game + DLC + Legacy). But you will be able to carry over locations from both HITMAN 2016 and HITMAN 2. (Progression carryover is optional.)

    • !! STEAM TO EPIC GAMES PROGRESS TRANSFER WILL BE POSSIBLE !! (THE SPECIFICS ARE NOT KNOWN YET. THIS THREAD WILL BE UPDATED ONCE WE KNOW SPECIFICALLY HOW THE PROGRESS TRANSFER WILL WORK.) Cross-platform progression carryover details not known at the moment. Epic Games Store to Steam progression carryover details not known at the moment.

    • ACHIEVEMENTS ARE AVAILABLE ON THE EPIC GAMES VERSION.

    • People who do not already own HITMAN 2016 and/or HITMAN 2 will be able to buy the levels through HITMAN 3. So don't worry if you don't own the past 2 games.

Will the cutscenes be still-images like HITMAN 2?

    • The cutscenes in HITMAN 3 will be like this: https://youtu.be/te_nocX0gi4 (we don't know if the HITMAN 2 cutscenes will be updated to the new style, but don't count on it)

Will HITMAN 3 require an online connection like the last 2 games?

    • Yes.

Is HITMAN 3 the last Hitman game ever?

    • No. It is just the last game in the current trilogy (2016, H2, H3).

Will HITMAN 3 be coming to PC VR?

    • What we know at the moment is that VR will be available for Playstation VR. All levels from 2016 to H3 will be available in VR mode. However, VR mode is ONLY available in HITMAN 3. Not 2016 or H2.

Can my PC / console run HITMAN 3? How much storage space will the game take up?

    The Main Cast

    • Agent 47 - David Bateson

    • Lucas Grey - John Hopkins

    Whoa. What a game!

    Posted: 10 Jan 2021 07:58 PM PST

I've watched many a true nerd play the new hit man series and thought yeah looks good but eh I don't think I'll play it. Until the steam winter sale just landed.

Thought I would give hitman 2 a crack as I had seen most of the first season play out already. And dayum did it impress. The stories are so well crafted that I don't want to go for the standard accidental kills like drowning or chandelier drops. I'd rather the high octane thrill of uncovering the story, getting to know them and their routine, then BAM the biometric robot just killed them. Just awesome.

Anyway I smashed out the second season and though I'd better buy the first and holy shit. The breadth and depth of the levels are god damn insane. Such careful character development and setting, let alone the architectural design and aesthetics. Both seasons have it. But sapienza just feels so different. It feels alive on the streets and in the mansion and the lab. Just so good.

What an incredible masterpiece of a game. I also really enjoy how the content is delivered too. Episodically with additional challenges etc is really cool and amplifies the craftsmanship of the game. I appreciate the, buy the game engine and we'll input the story and levels as we make it, that IO interactive have done. Very cool.

Anyways sorry for the long post. Just wanted to join the community and gush over the game!

    Bangkok pitch meeting

    Posted: 10 Jan 2021 07:12 AM PST

    Bangkok pitch meeting

Boss: "Wow, these levels have been growing bigger and bigger. I can't wait to see what you come up with next!"

Designer: "Actually, I thought we'd go with a tighter design for Bangkok. Put the whole thing in this one big multistory building, starting with staff greeting you as you come in, and then you see the stairs splitting in two farther in front of you."

Boss: "Oh, kind of like Paris."

Designer: "Yeah, like Paris. The building itself is fancy, but the real standout area has been temporarily converted for this entertainment event, so there's striking contrast between all the electronic equipment there and the classical architecture."

    Boss: "Like Paris?"

Designer: "Staff are pottering about in an off-limits basement, but then security really ramps up the higher you go. To really go sneaky, maybe you want to climb the green drainpipes."

    Boss: "Like Paris."

Designer: "But we have plenty of local Thai flavor!"

    Boss: "You composed Thai-sounding music?"

Designer: "No, I figured maybe we could just reuse the music from Paris."

Boss: "We definitely need some local stuff. Let's put a tuk-tuk in there."

    Designer: "A tuk-tuk?"

Boss: "You know, those three-wheel vehicles they have all over the place in Asia?"

Designer: "No, we can't. This is going to be a closed-off hotel, accessible only by boat from the river. There's no way for a tuk-tuk to get here."

    Boss: "I said I want a tuk-tuk."

Designer: "Uh, okay. Maybe we can make Ken Morgan interested in repairing a tuk-tuk ... "

    Boss: "Who's he?"

Designer: "He's a lawyer, one of the targets. He starts out right outside the hotel. Then he steps in, to a restaurant, then to the front desk next to it, then heads back out again."

Boss: "Okay. That doesn't sound all that exciting."

Designer: "You can also lure him to the laundry room if you like. Or you can lead him upstairs, dress like a maid, and have him order you around."

Boss: "Oh, leaning into the whole Thai sex tourism thing, I like it. Now who's the other target?"

Designer: "He's rocker Jordan Cross. He's this vegan—"

    Boss: "Got it."

Designer: "We've actually got an interesting story here. He was dating—"

Boss: "No need, you had me at 'vegan.' Let's kill him. How can we do it?"

Designer: "He's recording an album in the hotel. So one thing you can do is show up as a crew member and install this new deadly microphone and crank the voltage up to a deadly level."

Boss: "Do you think this'll ever get old? Disguising yourself and then tinkering with some device that has a clear fatal flaw so it blows up in the target's face?"

Designer: "Someday, maybe. But not yet."

    Boss: "Any other music-themed kills?"

Designer: "If you impress him with your drumming, you can get Jordan alone on the roof. Then you can push him to just the right spot, and he'll fall through a weak pane of glass smack onto Ken Morgan. You kill both targets at once!"

Boss: "A repeat of the Paris fireworks kill? No, we can't, c'mon. You'll have to think of some other way to kill them both together."

Designer: "Okay, guess we'll scrap the glass pane assassination then."

Boss: "No, you can still do it. Just make sure it won't kill Ken too."

Designer: "Even when Ken's walking right under it?"

    Boss: "Even then."

Designer: "But if we're not also killing Ken, there's no real point in pushing Jordan in this special place. Why, if you have him alone on the roof, you could just as well punch him out then chuck the body off the rear side, and people would mistake this for just as much of an accident."

Boss: "But will him falling through the glass look cool?"

    Designer: "It will look cool."

    Boss: "Keep it."

Designer: "We've also got this elaborate mission story where you can evacuate the recording studio and have everyone move to the lobby. We're talking dozens of people. Huge move."

Boss: "Wow, that's going to be impressive. I'm surprised you have resources to design anything else after pulling something like that."

Designer: "Yeah, that's the thing. We kind of don't."

Boss: "What are you talking about? You must have designed more. This is a luxury hotel, and you've barely started telling me about everything in it."

Designer: "There's not much to tell. The two halves of the hotel are mirror images of each other, which means I had to fill both with empty rooms."

    Boss: "Like Paris?"

Designer: "Not even. Here, it's the same guest room, copied over and over."

Boss: "But with different guests in each, so each has its own secrets and stories to tell!"

    Designer: "Nope. All empty, mostly."

Boss: "What about that recording studio? That can't be mirrored on the other side of the hotel."

Designer: "That's a special suite. We do mirror it, but without the recording studio in it. And up one more floor are more rooms, filled with crew and people on break, so mirroring that, we have the same rooms, but they're completely empty."

Boss: "Besides guest rooms, what is there? We did a hotel back in Codename 47 twenty years ago, and we included a pool and a sauna."

Designer: "We were thinking of doing a kind of health resort later in the season though, so we'd better save the pool and sauna for then."

    Boss: "Fine, but the Codename 47 hotel also had a florist's, and a dentist's office ... "

    Designer: "A ... a dentist's office?"

Boss: "It seemed like it made sense at the time. Anyway, you don't have to feature those exact stores, but there's got to be something. A gym maybe? A business center?"

    Designer: "There's a bar."

Boss: "Nice. Tell me about it."

Designer: "If you sit down for a while, we have this woman saddle up to you and offer you her room key. Her name is Jackie Carrington, and she's this horny washed-up actress."

Boss: "I like it. Let's make her pudgy and middle-aged and give her a drunken stupor, like that woman who hits on you in the Blood Money hotel."

Designer: "Then we'll have to pay the team to design a custom character model."

Boss: "Let's make her a generic NPC, the same model you've already used on the map repeatedly."

    Designer: "There's also a bar."

Boss: "Uh, yeah, the bar. We were just talking about it."

Designer: "No, a different bar. Next door to the first one, in the Red Meadow lounge. Special private place, walls of wine bottles, real fancy."

Boss: "Okay. What else is there in this hotel?"

    Designer: "There's also a bar."

    Boss: "Another one?"

Designer: "This one's outside. We'll give you the option to start as a bartender, and 47 will begin the mission in disguise stationed here."

Boss: "Okay, what else have you got?"

    Designer: "There's a bar."

    Boss: "Seriously?"

Designer: "By the main steps that take you up into the two halves of the hotel. This bar also has a nice back door to the hotel rear."

    Boss: "Tell me that's it."

    Designer: "There's also a bar.

    Boss: "No."

Designer: "This one's by the restaurant. Be careful, the guy here is sometimes an enforcer."

Boss: "That's it. No more bars."

    Designer: "Fine."

    Boss: "Good."

Designer: "There is a sort of bar on a cart though in the Red Admiral Lounge."

    Boss: "Why."

Designer: "And a bar in a globe in the Beauty Camberwell Lounge."

    Boss: "Enough."

Designer: "The Emperor and Queen suites each have their own kitchens with floor-to-ceiling racks of bottles."

    Boss: "Stop."

Designer: "We've also laid out an alcohol buffet bar in the recording studio."

    Boss: "I said stop."

Designer: "And a little bar set up for Jordan's birthday party."

    Boss: "Jordan's whatnow?"

Designer: "Plus loads of beer in the band's room, where they've been partying."

    Boss: "This is excessive."

Designer: "And really, every room should have a minibar, shouldn't it?"

Boss: "We paid for you to spend a whole week in Bangkok scouting the location. What did you do there exactly?"

    Designer: "Well ... "

Is the House in Haweks Bay designed by an actually architect?

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 03:49 AM PST

In many games that have a house or building, its often nonsensical and break the most basic achitectic rules. Haweks bay on the other hand is damn well design and could be easily a real house. Design, material, interior, layout, windows... everything fits and make sence. So did an actually architect design this house? Or is it a copy of a real house? Again, i dont think i ever saw such a beautiful house in any game before. Its so well done

Is Hitman 2 worth playing again?

    Posted: 10 Jan 2021 11:58 PM PST

I know it's a replayable game but I I've seen a lot of Hitman 2 on YouTube. I've even played it myself once but on a crappy laptop, so the experience wasn't that great. It's quite cheap on the ps store and I was thinking of getting it on my PS4. Is it still worth playing? I've never tried the sniper assassin mode.

Could IO dedicate a small team to release a new Hitman 3 map every 4-6 months? I would gladly pay for it. I’m going to miss Hitman too much!

    Posted: 10 Jan 2021 10:24 AM PST

I don't know how feasible it is, but I read that IO made Hitman 2 in 2 years with a smaller team than the one who made Hitman 2016. Six maps in 2 years = 4 months per map (I know they weren't made one after the other but still). How big of a team would you need to make one map at a time, and release every 4-6 months? I would happily pay for a new map if it came out.

The first DLC map for Hitman 2 came out 7 months after release, and the second came out 3 months later - and I know each map had a dedicated team. It definitely seems possible in terms of workforce.

I would have thought that IO has built such a strong fan base for Hitman now that the games are selling well, the tech is built, and an episodic content model would now be eagerly received by fans, be relatively easy to produce, and would be profitable for IO.

Do you need to play the series in order or can you pick up any game and have fun?

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 03:20 AM PST

I've never played a Hitman game before so I'm wondering can I just drop in and play any one on it's own self contained? Or is there an over arching story? I'd probably wanna get either Hitman or Hitman 2 because they're on current gen. Please lmk if I can come into the series and enjoy the games on their own or is it the type of series where you have to play them all in order to enjoy it? Thanks!
