Hitman Just finished Blood Money for the first time...

Just finished Blood Money for the first time...

But first, a little backstory: I received Hitman Absolution for Xbox 360 as a Christmas gift in 2012. I really enjoyed it and thought it was pretty great. However, when I researched the game afterwards, I learned it was heavily criticized by the fan base and regarded as a disappointment. Some time later, I picked up a copy of Blood Money since it was held in such high regard. I don't even think I made it past the training level... everything felt sideways and stiff and I dropped the game and the franchise.

Last week, Hitman 2016 was on sale on PSN and I finished it in a few days and had a pretty good time. It was a little weak on the story but most of the levels were really fun. Here's the funny part; at first I was disappointed because it felt unstructured and vague... unlike my memories of Absolution 😉. But, after the Showrunner episode I was hooked.

PSN also has the Absolution/Blood Money HD collection on sale, so I swept it up and began Absolution and couldn't put it down. After I finished Absolution, I reluctantly started Blood Money (my only memory of the game was the wonky controls and goofy interface).

About the controls: I cannot stress enough that playing Blood Money right after Hitman 2016 and Absolution back-to-back feels like drunk driving while writing the ABC's backwards with your non-dominant hand. I spent 10 minutes trying to figure out how to throw a damn coin in the training level.

I hated the training level... the stereotypical gangsters and the piss color palette was dreadful. I thought to myself "Yeah, I'm not gonna finish this one..." I pushed through to the first level in Mexico and I was immediately at a loss. Where's my instinct? Where are the markers on the HUD? How am I supposed to know what I'm supposed to do...

45 minutes later... I was hooked! The controls became second nature and I found myself loving exploring on my own. For the past 3 days I've been playing Blood Money until my eyes are bloodshot and I cannot describe how rewarding the whole experience was (that ending!). 10/10 would play again.

I still really enjoy Absolution and am going to play Hitman 2 2018 soon. I wish the newer games had the quick-loading times. Hitman 2016 was brutal for replaying bits over and over again. But, while IO should definitely remake Blood Money with the new engine, there's a lot of charm to playing an old clunky game.

    Tl;dr - It was good.

What i wish to see in future Hitman games

    Posted: 24 Sep 2020 03:40 AM PDT

Hello everybody, so i bit story of myself how i got into Hitman franchise, i started with Hitman blood money in 2006, before that i never played previous Hitman games, so right after starting i was so hooked with this game, playing as some dodgy looking bald assassin in open sandbox levels was amazing experience, so i started do dig deeper into story and finished all previous Hitman games, and ofc recent ones, so in the end this is my small list what i wish to see combined in fututre hitman games, i'm not counting to Hitman 3, but we will see.

    1. More mature, darker atmosphere, so if you played recent Hitman games the atmosphere is very positive, idk how to explain this but people who played previous games will understand that feeling, something between contracts/blood money.

    2. Jesper kyd music.

    3. Money system, instead of mastery points.

    4. Using money system to buy gadgets, guns, attachments etc.

    5. Assemble sniper rifle from parts.

    6. Grab people with gun.

    7. piano wire animation similar to blood money when you hold a button he will prepare his wire by unfolding it.

    8. Using Darkness, to pass guards and such, similar to contracts beldingford manor, also to turn on and off light switches, people who don't wanna use this stealth can play as normal, its just a preference of how you play.

So that's my personal list, probably most, or even all of them will not come to Hitman 3, but i wish they would implement these stuff after Hitman 3, i know it will take some time for new Hitman game to come out as my guess devs will make engine upgrade, because we entering new generation of the consoles, and Hitman is already 4-5 years old engine.

With shorter and randomly ordered levels (plus RNG factors in them) where they progressively get harder until a climactic final location.

Start selecting 1 key equipment like Silverballers, Sniper, Bombs or Syringes and between each level select a free upgrade or a new item (depending on the RNG options). Have money as a separate system to decrease notoriety or buy more enhancements to your equipment.

Make levels favor certain weapons/methods above others and for more difficulty also have "dark event" possibilities such as more guards, more protected locks or time limit before the target is escorted away.

Is Craig Black a Paul Sheldon reference? (Hitman 2016 - Patient Zero)

    Posted: 23 Sep 2020 12:53 PM PDT

In case you don't know who I'm talking about, Craig Black is one of the targets in The Author, the second Patient Zero mission. The thing is, his similiarities with Paul Sheldon, the main character from Misery (great Stephen King book btw if you have the time), are astonishing to the point it seems a reference. It's specially about the books they're known for, which are both five book series set in a victorian England with a love triangle, a female protagonist and supernatural events. Am I just reading too much into it?

Before you say this is not possible, It is! This is 2020 not 2003 anymore. Imagine playing multiplayer against other people online just like back in the day on the PS2. Man that was so much fun! I loved playing with Colonel Bulba!
