It's been a long journey going from the first time I entered Paris in 2016 and then ending it on a high note. The new hitman trilogy, in addition to like Blood Money are the only games that I've truly liked and the only community that I've enjoyed being a part of..

Though there have been some big hiccups along the way along with questionable business decisions, looking ahead of that, these are the most underappreciated trilogies and the most replayable games of our time and I hope we get to see more of this in the future, but even better.

EDIT - And thanks to the community for being so nice and dedicated!

    A Hitman Fan.

You can hide remote explosives in trash cans and detonate them.

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 01:15 PM PDT

I know this is probably basic, but I just realized this after hundreds of hours in Hitman 1-3.

This can let you get kills with illegal items like Remote Explosive, as long as a target goes near the trash can.

Rules and information for Where's Baldo Season 3

This week marks the return of Where's Baldo, the image game we played here in 2019. If all goes according to plan, we're going to have a whole bunch of threads here over the course of several months. They'll all need to mention the rules, which may update over time, so I'm making this post with info they can all link to.

If you're skimming, here's the one thing you need to know:

DON'T POST ANSWERS WITHOUT USING SPOILER TEXT.

Details on that (and everything else) are below.

    Here's how the game works

In Where's Baldo, I post a high-resolution screenshot from Hitman and ask you to search it to find Agent 47. These are aerial shots or use other strange perspectives, and 47 could be hiding anywhere.

This season will be a little different. Besides 47, you'll be tasked with finding a bunch of other stuff ("targets") in the picture. This includes characters (possibly walking around but more likely knocked out and moved somewhere), items placed on the ground, and small details in the original scenery. Sometimes, it will be obvious what you're searching for, but finding it will be hard. Other times, the description may be cryptic and a puzzle in itself.

Here's how to post answers / use spoiler text

My post will contain a numbered list with all the stuff you need to find. To reply with an answer, type the number of the target you've found, and then type your answer using spoiler text. Spoiler text covers up what you have written until the reader highlights it. There is a markdown system for labeling spoiler text, but the easiest way to add it is Reddit's fancy pants editor, the default way of commenting. Just highlight the text you are typing then click the spoiler icon:

When you've posted, it looks like this:

    https://preview.redd.it/6jdato3cxzt61.png?width=726&format=png&auto=webp&s=73176c4ae155ba1fbddfd2f862f04abe5fcfa158

Note that if you are using old Reddit (if the URL in your address bar starts with old.reddit.com) you might be familiar with a spoiler text system that no longer works. Please make sure you know how to make spoiler text work on the default version of Reddit before posting answers. You can use this post for test comments if you like.

In addition to using spoiler text to protect players who want to keep looking even after you've found a target, please avoid discussing the Hitman 3 story in comments. The first few maps won't even be from Hitman 3, but even once the Hitman 3 images start, there's no need to talk about any map more recent than the posted one.

    Scoring

Each player may guess only three targets, initially. This reduces how big an advantage you get from being the first person to see the post. If one of your guesses is wrong, you may guess another without crossing your limit. If you guess more than your limit allows, you'll get no feedback on the extra guesses, and someone else might copy what you wrote and get credit for it. After 15 hours, the limit vanishes, and you may guess as many targets as you want.

Targets vary in difficulty. So, for each image, the first few targets that players find will be worth 1 point each. Later ones will be worth more. 47 is worth more points than the other targets. Your score will carry over throughout this season, but not from last season.

What does the final winner get?

I think there can be a prize of some sort this time. Maybe a copy of IO's James Bond game, deliverable in the distant future?

Why is this called season 3?

    Because Hitman 3.

    Some tech notes

Tech has evolved since 2019, so this season's images look better.

Before, images maxed out at a little under 2 gigapixels, which is quite large, by most standards. This season, each image will measure just under 10 gigapixels. Before, no image was more than 2 gigabytes (which worked well, because 2 gigabytes was the max file size allowed by the host I used, EasyZoom). Now, each image -- which is both bigger in pixels and higher in quality than before -- will be 27 gigabytes.

So, each of these screenshots is about half the size of the entire Hitman 3 installation. Even opening one in Photoshop requires some 40 gigabytes of RAM, plus hundreds of gigabytes of hard drive scratch space. The clarity in these new zooms will amaze you.

The images will be hosted on Gigapan, which permits much larger images than EasyZoom. Like with EasyZoom, you will be able to zoom and scroll through the massive scene without having to load or download the whole thing, and I find the browsing experience even better in Gigapan.

Encounters with skydiver NPC in Siberia?

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 08:11 PM PDT

I was in Siberia (Hitman 2 Sniper Assassin map). A skydiver NPC came up to me and said "nice day to take a dive". Then he jumped right off in front of me.

It scared the shit out of me because of how random it was. I've played the map over 200 times probably and never seen it other than that one time.

I think it was the skydiver NPC from another Sniper Assassin map.

    Has anyone else had this?

I don’t know if this is common knowledge or not, but yesterday I found out that you can blend in at Andrea Martinez’s mansion in 47’s suit.

    What if helmets worked?

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 05:48 PM PDT

I was thinking about the more heavily-armored characters in the game, guards with bodyarmor and helmets and such. They're rare, but still exist. It got me wondering--what if helmets actually resisted knockouts? Essentially, they'd count knockout attacks as one step lighter.

Lethal and nonlethal attacks: Knock down but doesn't knock out

Light (apples and such): Annoys and alerts

Attacking at melee range would still work, but it would play a longer, more precise attack animation, where 47 would need to hit harder to stun the guard.

    Thoughts?

    Inventory Tutorials

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 11:47 PM PDT

    Hi,

Does anyone know of any resource (website/youtube videos) which teach you, somewhat in-depth, about each inventory item? the inventory nowadays is a big bloated mess, and there's some tools I don't use or think to use. It'd be nice to KNOW what each item can do, what the limitations are etc.

I find the in-game help really lacking, so hoping someone has some tips/advice where I could start looking.

As an example - I'd love to really know all the different uses of the briefcases, what the limitations are etc. And I saw yesterday someone posting about how they didn't know explosives could be put into bins. Things like that would be cool to know a bit more in depth.

    Elusive Targets

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 01:11 AM PDT

Many months ago I bought hitman 2, now I also have hitman 1 (i play on ps4) and now I wanted to ask if the Elusive Targets would come back again. So that the targets of hitman 1 and 2 will be playable again at some point.
