    'Tis the season

Thanks to the steam sale, I got Hitman 2. Just completed the hardest challenge of my life.

Christmas is a coming and 47 is festive! My fave background I used last year just screenshot. (Or windows + shift + S)

Theory: The new revealed location is suppose to be Hong Kong, but it is changed to Chongqing mid development. Here's why:

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 03:13 AM PST

    Evidence:

    1. The aesthetic seems off. Although there are neon signs in Chongqing, the amount of in-game is just too much. It is more similar to the number of neon signs in Hong Kong. And the overall feeling looks more like Hong Kong in general. (Apart from the Simplified Chinese) Chongqing Night Street Hong Kong Night Street
    2. The license plate style on the car is similar to Hong Kong, rather than Chongqing. Chinese license plate-style Hong Kong license plate-style In-game license plate (Yellow background, no Chinese word)
    3. In the Hitman 3 announcement trailer, one of the scenes shows a night city, with a Traditional Chinese & English road sign (KEEP CLEAR 請勿停車), and a single yellow line at the side of the road, which in Hong Kong, it means no stopping at the certain period. Reddit Post showing a comparison of the announcement trailer and IRL photo of Hong Kong

So why would IOI change the location mid-development?

With Hong Kong's unstable political situation ongoing, making Hong Kong an in-game location would be asking for trouble. There are so many things if done incorrectly, would make the sales of the game in China drop significantly. For example, in the trailer, we can see people holding an umbrella in the rain. If the location is indeed Hong Kong, it will lead to certain people in China very upset, since they may associate this with the "Umbrella Revolution" in Hong Kong, even if the umbrella is just what people used in the rain.

Another reason why is to boost sales in China, with a game location set in China, people in China would be more likely to buy the game, as the game now "represents a part of China". With the insane population in China, it would mean much more money can be earned, which an independent studio like IOI needs the most.

Some people may question that the Hitman game will 100% feature blood and other violent scenes, which it is not allowed in Chinese gaming regulation. (There are many things the game need to add/remove if they want to be sold in China, one of them is it don't allow to show blood-red liquid) So how it would affect the sales in China if it can't be sold in China in the first place? In reality, many Chinese people ignore the restriction and use VPN to buy the game. IOI can also make a "safe version" to be sold in China. So, China's market is very important to them.

So what do you guys think? As a Hong Konger myself, I am pretty disappointed the location is not set in Hong Kong, but I understand the need to change location, otherwise, IOI would be facing a lot of trouble, no matter how hard they try to make it right.

All of the above is just a theory, maybe it is always Chongqing at the start, we will never know ;)

Am I the only one who would love to see a Hitman style Star Wars bounty game?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 04:06 PM PST

I think that a game made by IO that allows you to be a bounty hunter in the star wars universe would be excellent. Imagine roaming a universe as a Mandalorian or a Han Solo like character. You would have many ways to take them down of course in the typical Hitman style.

Just wanted to post this to hopefully bring up a new discussion. This could be entirely possible with the new 007 game.

I was asked if I knew any Bollywood Stars

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 05:25 PM PST

And immediately I was like "Oh sure, Dawood Rangan!"

And my coworker just stared at me for a moment and then I realised he's not really a Bollywood star and I spent a minute trying to justify myself.

Shoutout to u/indiangamer47 who made me truly believe Dawood is a superstar 💕 I had no one else to tell so thanks for listening lol

How did you guys find out about the Hitman series?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 09:32 PM PST

I found out about Hitman last month, and 47 is now my favourite protagonist of all time. i have since finished Absolution, H1 and H2. I am happy that this game has an awesome community that is not toxic!

So how did you guys find out about it? I did because I was looking for other games besides gta and watch dogs and hitman appeared in my recommendations!

    bruh

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 02:21 PM PST

I hope HITMAN 3 brings in some sort of replay function of yours and others' plays.

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 01:00 AM PST

Personally I think hitman would be perfect for this, freecaming around, watching how someone else did the kill, or even seeing your own and what you could have done differently, though personally, I would probably use it to take pictures or watch how Guards and Crowds react to stuff I do if it gets found out. Have any of ya'll wished for something similar?

Anyone got an Idea why i don´t enjoy HITMAN 2?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 03:55 AM PST

So im an huge fan of HITMAN (2016). Its my favourite game of all time. I got into the Hitman games Christmas last year and i played trough all games and i loved them all, well with the exeption of Absolution of course. After i finished all the previous games i bought HITMAN 2 and for some reason i do not enjoy it. It doesn´t make sense because its just more of HITMAN (2016) and i loved that game. Anyone got an idea why thats the case?
